School Councils

At Sacred Heart we value pupil voice and we want to involve our pupils with school and community life. We have various councils who have distinct and different roles.

Our House Council educates our pupils about social need in our society.  Our houses are named after positive social educators and were chosen to reflect our core values:  Mahatma Gandhi for ‘Responsibility’; Helen Keller for ‘Achievement’; Saint Oscar Romero for ‘Faith’; Martin Luther King for ‘Respect’ and ‘Equality’; and Saint Teresa of Calcutta for ‘Compassion’.  Our House Councillors work hard to raise money for their five chosen charities in fundraising events across the year shown below.

Our School Council is a platform for pupils to discuss their teaching and learning and any other school matters. There are regular class councils that feed into meetings with the school leadership.

Our School Ambassadors represent our community wherever possible at events in school or outside, where they promote our mission statement and work to ensure we love one another. They are responsible for our Love One Another month promoting the importance of pupils treating each other well at all times.

Our Eco-Council work to promote a sustainable way of life by looking after our school environment and promoting walking or cycling to school.
