Safeguarding

Safeguarding Statement

Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

To achieve this commitment we ensure that all our staff are trained annually and that they can fully access and understand the robust processes and procedures that are in place. Staff training in safeguarding children from extremism or radicalisation is also up to date and our WRAP number is 9730206.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead is Chris Beazeley.  Our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead is Liz Crabb and Mike Smith.  Andrea Moulton is our Safeguarding and Pupil Welfare Lead.

If a parent has a concern of a possible child protection nature they should contact one of the above or, in their absence, another member of the senior leadership team.

Contact numbers for the Local 1st Contact team can be found in our Child Protection Policy.

It is the school’s responsibility to ensure that all children are protected against ‘significant harm’ and if a situation arises where we are concerned about the health and well-being of a child then we are obliged to refer the matter further. The school in most circumstances will discuss all concerns with parents; however there may be exceptional circumstances when the school will discuss concerns with Social Services and/or the Police without parental knowledge (in accordance with Southend, Essex and Thurrock Child Protection Procedures).  The school will of course always aim to keep a positive relationship with all parents.
